Mass Arrests, Executions of Civilians Along Allegedly 'Safe' Routes Amid Israeli Assault : Gaza Government Reports

The Gaza Government Media Office has reported that Palestinian civilians attempting to use designated "safe" evacuation routes in North Gaza are being arrested, executed, or detained. The office confirmed that at least 800 civilians have been killed and around 200 kidnapped since the assault began, accusing Israeli occupation forces of a "systematic campaign of genocide" against Gaza’s population. Northern Gaza has been subjected to unyielding bombardment for three weeks, creating what the Media Office described as life-threatening conditions aimed at eliminating any form of civilian life.

Field reports and documentation point to over 770 confirmed civilian fatalities and more than 1,000 injuries in the past 20 days, as hospitals across Gaza approach critical failure due to continuous strikes that have severely limited access to essential medicines and resources. The Media Office emphasized that women, children, and elderly Palestinians are especially vulnerable, as civilian shelters are bombed, medical facilities are targeted, and conditions worsen by the hour.

Palestinians attempting evacuation via the designated routes face not only violence but also the risk of detention or abduction, with women among those reportedly kidnapped. The Gaza Media Office also asserted that banned weapons are being deployed in these operations, including heavy artillery, tanks, and precision-guided missiles. In a series of statements, Gaza’s Civil Defense added that emergency response teams are under attack and are blocked from aiding the wounded or recovering the deceased. It reported that Israeli forces are deploying snipers in northern Gaza, preventing civilian movement and targeting those attempting rescue efforts.

The international response to these reports has been swift. UN Deputy Spokesperson Farhan Haq expressed serious concerns regarding the Israeli blockade, describing it as a violation of international law. "The devastation in northern Gaza under the blockade shows a disregard for international law," Haq stated in a briefing on Thursday, urging for access to humanitarian relief and aid. Current estimates suggest that between 50,000 to 70,000 individuals remain in Jabalia, while 63,000 have been displaced into central Gaza.

Dr. Munir al-Bursh, Gaza’s Health Ministry director-general, warned that ongoing assaults on hospitals are putting them on the brink of collapse. Al-Bursh reported the deaths of over 1,000 medical personnel and accused Israeli forces of systematically targeting hospitals to force displacement from northern Gaza. He noted the lack of essential supplies, even for the deceased, describing the blockade on food, water, and medicine as part of a broader displacement strategy.

With UN shelters also being struck, such as those in Jabalia’s Abu Zaytoun area, Palestinian officials have made urgent pleas for international intervention, holding the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, and France accountable for their support of Israel. The Gaza Government Media Office reiterated the need for humanitarian aid access, describing the unfolding crisis as deliberate and calculated.

The United Nations has pledged to continue advocacy efforts, with Haq promising, “We are striving to ensure that the world hears them and sees their needs.”
