Security sources reported that explosions heard near Tehran were due to air defense activity, not direct missile strikes. Footage circulating online appeared to capture interceptions in the skies above Tehran. According to official news agency IRNA, the airspace around Tehran was cleared of adversarial targets, while airports in the capital resumed normal operations. Iran’s Tehran oil refinery and IRGC military centers in the west and southwest were also unaffected by the strikes, according to officials.
Israel’s military command confirmed it had launched attacks on “military targets” in Iran, advising Israeli citizens to remain “alert and vigilant.” Sources within Iran, meanwhile, stated that the country reserves the right to respond to any aggression proportionally, reaffirming its readiness to defend its sovereignty.
Tehran’s traffic and public services resumed as normal, and the IRGC is expected to issue a formal statement later. Al Mayadeen’s correspondent reported that the Axis of Resistance considers the incident a “victory” that sets a new strategic balance in the region.
