Kamal Adwan Hospital Under Siege as Gaza Faces Escalating Humanitarian Crisis

Gaza's Kamal Adwan Hospital Under Siege Amid Humanitarian Crisis

Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya, director-general of Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza, reported Wednesday that the hospital remains under an intense Israeli siege, with medicine and food blocked from entry. Civil defense teams and ambulances are also being prevented from accessing the facility, exacerbating the humanitarian crisis.

The hospital has been overwhelmed with 85 injured women and children, including six critical cases in intensive care. Dr. Abu Safiya revealed that severe malnutrition cases, including 17 children, are increasing, and an elderly man succumbed to dehydration due to lack of resources.

"Yesterday, a distress call came from the Kahlout family after their home was bombed, but we couldn't reach them. Those who arrived were saved; those left behind were martyred," he recounted.

The situation persists despite international calls for aid, with no progress toward opening humanitarian corridors for medical supplies, surgical teams, baby formula, or ambulances.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health issued an urgent plea as Israeli forces continue bombing Kamal Adwan Hospital, reportedly destroying its facilities. The Civil Defense announced that most of its vehicles in Gaza are no longer operational due to fuel shortages and damage.

Since the onset of the aggression, over 1,000 medical workers have been killed, and hospitals, ambulances, and civil defense teams remain under constant attack. Kamal Adwan Hospital, one of Gaza’s largest, has faced repeated raids and blockades, further straining its ability to provide care.
