Israeli Attacks Intensify in Gaza, Targeting Hospitals and Shelters Amid Humanitarian Crisis
The Israeli occupation has escalated its military campaign in Gaza, particularly in the northern regions, where repeated airstrikes have caused mass casualties and widespread destruction. In recent days, dozens of Palestinians have been killed as Israeli forces continue their assault on the region, which has been under siege for over a year.
Hospital and Shelter Under Fire
Israeli forces set fire to the Indonesian Hospital in northern Gaza, according to reports from Al Mayadeen. The Palestinian Ministry of Health condemned the attack, calling for international protection for medical facilities and workers, who are facing unprecedented danger in the ongoing conflict.
In the Jabalia refugee camp, Israeli artillery shelled an UNRWA shelter, killing 10 people and injuring 30 others. Additional strikes targeted al-Shawwa School in Beit Hanoun, which housed displaced families, resulting in further casualties.
Disturbing footage has emerged showing the aftermath of the Israeli attack on Jabalia Preparatory School. A nurse documented the chaos as people were forced to flee the area under heavy fire.
Humanitarian Aid Blocked
The occupation forces are not only targeting civilians but also blocking vital humanitarian aid from entering northern Gaza. Philippe Lazzarini, head of the UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), criticized Israel for preventing the delivery of food and medicine to the besieged population. "Denying and weaponizing humanitarian assistance is a sign of how low the moral compass is," he said.
Lazzarini also highlighted the deteriorating conditions in hospitals, which are running out of power and supplies, while rescue missions are being denied access to retrieve people from the rubble.
Calls for Action Against Genocide
The International Commission to Support Palestinians Rights (ICSPR) has urged people around the world to demand action to stop what it calls a "genocide" in Gaza. The organization is calling for the establishment of safe humanitarian corridors, accountability measures, and sanctions against Israel for its actions.
For 17 consecutive days, Israel has imposed a suffocating blockade on northern Gaza, preventing essential supplies from reaching the region’s 200,000 residents, and completing what some are calling a systematic destruction of life in Gaza.
Widespread Bombardment Across Gaza
The Israeli bombardment has extended beyond northern Gaza to other areas of the Strip. In eastern Gaza City, nine people were killed in a strike on the al-Zarqa area, with several others missing. Two more people were killed in a separate strike on northwestern Gaza City.
In the south, Israeli airstrikes in Khan Younis and Rafah have claimed multiple lives, with tents sheltering displaced people in the al-Muwasi area also being targeted.
As the humanitarian crisis deepens, international calls for ceasefires and humanitarian aid access grow louder, while Israel's relentless attacks continue to devastate the already struggling Gaza Strip.
