On Tuesday, Abu Obeida, the military spokesperson for al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, praised Hezbollah for its recent attack on the residence of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The operation, which occurred in Caesarea on October 19, has raised serious concerns in Israel about Hezbollah's use of drones and their ability to bypass Israeli defenses.
Abu Obeida emphasized that the operation sends a strong message to Israeli leaders, showing that the deaths of Resistance leaders only strengthen their determination. He also stated that the Israeli leadership "will not escape justice" despite avoiding international accountability.
Hezbollah's Media Relations Officer, Mohammad Afif, confirmed during a press conference that the group was responsible for the attack. Addressing Netanyahu directly, Afif warned, "The eyes of the Resistance's fighters are watching, and their ears are listening," and vowed more operations in the future.
Hezbollah Claims Responsibility for Attack on Netanyahu's Residence, Vows Escalation
Israeli media reported that a drone hit Netanyahu's residence in southern Haifa, though neither he nor his wife were present. The Israeli military admitted to a failure in intercepting the drone, which bypassed air defenses. Three drones reportedly flew from Lebanon toward Haifa, with only two being detected and intercepted. The third drone successfully struck Netanyahu’s residence, causing an explosion that eyewitnesses described as "huge."
The incident is seen as a significant security breach, with Israeli security services investigating how the drone managed to reach such a heavily guarded area.
