Israeli Forces Violate Ceasefire with Lebanon as Lebanese Army Expands Deployment

Israeli occupation forces (IOF) shelled several towns in southern Lebanon on Thursday, violating the ceasefire agreement, according to Al Mayadeen's correspondent.

The towns of Khiam, Taybeh, Rub al-Thalathin, Marjaayoun, Hilta, Kfar Chouba, al-Wazzani, Aita al-Shaab, and Bint Jbeil were targeted by Israeli artillery and tanks.

Two civilians were injured in Markaba, and two journalists were wounded a day earlier in Khiam while covering the return of residents and the Israeli withdrawal.

Meanwhile, the Lebanese Army has increased its presence across the south, Bekaa, and Beirut's Southern Suburb, setting up checkpoints, clearing unexploded ordnance, and facilitating the safe return of displaced residents.

The army's expanded deployment in the southern Litani sector coincides with the implementation of the ceasefire agreement.

Hassan Fadlallah, an MP from Hezbollah's Loyalty to the Resistance Bloc, emphasized cooperation with the Lebanese Army on border security, stating there would be no issues as tens of thousands of Lebanese return home.

He noted that matters related to Hezbollah’s positioning north of the Litani River align with state measures to strengthen army control in the region.
