Syrian President Assad Strengthens Regional Ties in Counterterrorism Efforts Amid Ongoing Security Challenges
Syrian President Bashar al-Assad held key discussions with Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani and UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, emphasizing the importance of combating terrorism and ensuring regional stability.
In a phone call with President Assad, Iraqi Prime Minister al-Sudani reaffirmed Iraq's commitment to Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, highlighting the interconnected security of the two nations. He expressed Iraq's readiness to support Syria in its fight against terrorism and efforts to restore stability.
During a separate conversation with UAE President Al Nahyan, Assad addressed Syria’s ongoing challenges, including counterterrorism operations and regional developments. Assad reiterated Syria's determination to safeguard its sovereignty and stability, stating that with the backing of allies, the country remains resolute in its efforts to eliminate terrorist threats. Al Nahyan expressed solidarity with Syria, pledging the UAE’s continued support for its fight against terrorism and commitment to maintaining territorial unity.

Meanwhile, the Syrian Army has intensified operations to reclaim areas in Aleppo from terrorist groups, announcing ongoing efforts to secure the northern region. A cautious calm has returned to parts of Aleppo following armed incursions into western neighborhoods.
In response to the developments, Syrian officials convened a follow-up meeting led by Prime Minister Mohamed Jallali to address service disruptions in Aleppo caused by terrorist activity. The government pledged to maintain essential services and ensure the safety of citizens despite recent challenges.
These discussions and military actions underscore Syria’s focus on safeguarding its sovereignty while strengthening regional cooperation to counter shared threats.
